We will be reconvening the URM Policy Committee on December 6, 2016 in room 4080 at the Seattle Municipal Tower. The committee will discuss the results of the URM inventory validation and hear updates since the last meeting in April 2014. This is the first in a series of 3 meetings to finalize the committee’s January 2013 draft recommendations on a retrofit policy for URMs.

Our validation would confirm that all the buildings on the list are URMs. Our validation process would add any additional URM buildings that we identify. Our validation would also research whether URM buildings have been demolished or retrofitted, and would analyze whether the retrofits meet the proposed seismic upgrade. The result of our validation would be an updated map and list of URMs.
While we plan to validate the URM inventory, we will continue education about URMs in partnership with the Office of Emergency Management’s earthquake preparedness outreach, and continue to research financial incentives. At this point we do not have a definite date at which we will reconvene the URM Policy Committee.
