Events Traffic Advisory for Wednesday, May 2 – Sunday, May 6

SDOT is advising travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city that may affect area traffic. The Mariners play tonight through Sunday at Safeco Field. WE Day is Thursday at KeyArena. Sounders play 1 p.m. Saturday at CenturyLink. There is a March of Dimes Walk at Seattle Center and the Fiesta Run in Capitol Hill, both are on Saturday. The Nordic Museum Opening is Saturday. Opening Day for Boat season is Saturday. A food truck competition is Sunday in Fremont.

Mariners vs. Oakland A’s: Seattle Mariners host the Athletics at 7:10 p.m. at Safeco Field. About 15,000 people are expected to attend.

THURSDAY, MAY 3:

Khalid concert: WaMu Theater from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. About 7,000 people are expected to attend.

SATURDAY, MAY 5:

Opening Day of Boating Season Parade: Windermere Cup Crew Races on Montlake Cut run 10:20 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. The Parade of Boats runs 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will close the Montlake Bridge from approximately 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. About 5,000 people are expected to attend.

March of Dimes March for Babies: Seattle Center to downtown and back. The Walk starts at 9 a.m.  Route: from 2nd Ave. N. & Mercer St, east on Mercer, south on 5th Ave. N, south on Cedar St, south on 4th Ave. to University St, U-turn, north on 4th Ave, west on Denny Way, north on 2nd Ave. N. onto the Seattle Center campus. About 5,000 people are expected to participate.

Fiesta 5K Ole and Taco Truck Challenge: The 5K run on Capitol Hill streets starts at 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by Taco Truck Challenge in Volunteer Park 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. About 5,000 people are expected to participate.

Nordic Museum Grand Opening: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and community at 2655 NW Market St.  Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., followed by musical performances from 1p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Grand Opening Concert runs 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. About 5,000 people are expected to participate.

Sounders vs. Columbus CrewCannabis Freedom March: Rally at Westlake Park from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. SPD will escort a short march on downtown streets at 1 p.m. About 400 people are expected to participate.

Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels: Seattle Mariners host the Angels at 6:10 p.m. at Safeco Field. About 30,000 people are expected to attend.

SUNDAY, MAY 6:

Taco Libre Truck Showdown: 40 food trucks will compete for the best taco-inspired dishes in Fremont along N Canal St between Phinney Ave N and 1st Ave NW. Event hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. About 10,000 people are expected to attend.

WWII Immortal Regiment Memorial Walk: March to commemorate the veterans and celebrate Allied Victory in World War II. 12:30 p.m. rally in Occidental Park followed by a 1:30 p.m. march to Seattle Center along 4th Ave. Festival will follow at Seattle Center’s Mural Amphitheater from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. About 540 people are expected to attend.

CONSTRUCTION

Weekend Southbound Lane closures of Lake City Way:

Crews working on behalf of SDOT will be closing both southbound lanes of Lake City Way NE, just south of the intersection of NE 125th St, from 7 p.m. Friday, May 4 until 6 a.m. Monday, May 7. During this closure, motorists and pedestrians will be detoured around the construction zone, with the assistance of uniformed police officers. 

Events Traffic Advisory for Tuesday, April 10 – Sunday, April 15

SDOT is advising travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city that may affect area traffic. The Mariners return home for a weekend series Friday through Sunday at Safeco Field. The Halo Championships are at CenturyLink Event Center Friday through Sunday. The March for Science is Saturday and starts at Cal Anderson Park and ends at Seattle Center. WSDOT has weekend closures that include the northbound I-5 off-ramp to West Seattle Bridge/Spokane St/Columbian Way beginning 9 p.m. Friday.

Halo World Championship 2018 Finals: at CenturyLink Field Event Center. Event hours are 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. About 3,000 people are expected to attend.

SATURDAY, APRIL 14:

Halo World Championship 2018 Finals: at CenturyLink Field Event Center. Event hours are 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. About 3,000 people are expected to attend.

March for Science Seattle: 10 a.m. rally at Cal Anderson Park followed by a two-mile march at 11:30 a.m. to Seattle Center.  Seattle Police will escort rolling street closures along the route. The route: from 11th Ave & E Pine St, west on Pine to 4th Ave; north on 4th to Cedar St; north on Cedar to 5th Ave N; north on 5th to Harrison St; west on Harrison to the Seattle Center campus. About 5,000 people are expected to participate.

Seattle Mariners: Seattle Mariners host the Oakland A’s at 6:10 p.m. at Safeco Field. About 33,000 people are expected to attend.

SUNDAY, APRIL 15:

Halo World Championship 2018 Finals: at CenturyLink Field Event Center. Event hours are 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. About 3,000 people are expected to attend.

Seattle Mariners: Seattle Mariners host the Oakland A’s at 1:10 p.m. at Safeco Field. About 29,000 are expected to attend.

CONSTRUCTION

April 13 – April 16: Fairview Ave N between Republican and Harrison streets will be fully closed from 10 p.m. Friday, April 13 to 2 a.m. Monday, April 16 for private construction crane removal.

WSDOT Closures April 13 – 16

  • The northbound I-5 off-ramp to West Seattle Bridge/Spokane Street/Columbian Way will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.
  • University Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather dependent.

Mercer St Lane Closure for Median work on Saturday, March 31

SDOT is advising travelers that SDOT Crews will be closing the eastbound Mercer St inside lane between 9th Ave N and Fairview Ave N on Saturday, March 31 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to complete median maintenance and vegetation control. SDOT would like to thank the public for its patience while this work is being completed.

What to expect:

  • Eastbound Mercer St inside lane closure between 9th Ave N and Fairview Ave N will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 31.

Ballard Bridge Lane Northbound Closures on Tuesday, April 3 and Tuesday, April 10

SDOT is advising travelers that the northbound Curb lane of the Ballard Bridge will be closed for maintenance inspection from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Tuesday, April 3 and Tuesday, April 10. Please plan ahead for the scheduled inspections as it may cause travel delays during the hours of work. SDOT would like to thank the public for its patience while this work is being completed.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, travelers can expect:

  • The northbound curb lane will be closed from w Emerson St to Shilshole Ave NW (south approach across the moveable bridge span to the north approach)
  • Bike and pedestrian traffic will not be impacted
  • Marine traffic: The bridge will have normal marine traffic closures as SDOT is required to close the bridge to vehicle traffic and open for marine traffic crossings per federal law.
  • Work hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, travelers can expect:

  • The northbound curb lane will be closed from the southern approach across the moveable bridge span.
  • Bike and pedestrian traffic will not be impacted
  • Marine traffic: The bridge will have normal marine traffic closures as SDOT is required to close the bridge to vehicle traffic and open for marine traffic crossings per federal law.
  • Work hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mercer St Lane Closures for Median work on Sunday, March 18

SDOT is advising travelers that SDOT Crews will be closing the eastbound Mercer St inside lane between 9th Ave N and Fairview Ave N on Sunday, March 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to perform median maintenance and vegetation control. SDOT would like to thank the public for its patience while this work is being completed.

What to expect:

  • Eastbound Mercer St inside lane closure between 9th Ave N and Fairview Ave N will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 18.
  • Crews may also need to close the inside westbound lane from Boren Ave N to Westlake Ave N for a shorter window of time.
