Detectives will be handling the follow up investigation after a man was shot several times early this morning in the Belltown neighborhood. The victim has been transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
At approximately 3:15 Wednesday morning officers responded to several reports of shots fired in the area of 1st Avenue and Clay Street. Officers arrived and located the victim, a 43-year-0ld male, on the corner of 1st and Clay. He told officers that he had been sleeping in the alley when an unknown person approached and shot him several times. The victim then ran down the alley until he collapsed at the corner of 1st and Clay. The victim was struck several times, and Seattle Fire transported him to the hospital for further treatment. The injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Officers searched the area but did not locate any suspects. Several spent shell casings were recovered and submitted for evidence.
