Detectives have arrested a suspect in a robbery, car chase and shooting last week in West Seattle and are now investigating him for several other crimes.
SPD’s Robbery Unit, working with the Washington State Department of Corrections, were able to track down and arrest the 23-year-old suspect. Police believe he was also involved in another robbery on Capitol Hill, where he forced a man to handover an expensive belt at gunpoint. Detectives are also investigating whether the man is connected to several other robberies in the North and Southwest Precincts.
Detectives booked the suspect into King County Jail for investigation of robbery and assault.
Detectives are searching for a man who fired several shots during an attempted robbery early this morning in the Ballard neighborhood.
Witnesses said the suspect approached a woman on the street near NW Market St and Ballard Ave NW around 12:15 AM and attempted to take her necklace. As the woman struggled with the suspect, a doorman from a nearby club intervened. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and fired several rounds into the ground before fleeing the area.
Officers arrived and found three people had sustained minor injuries after they were struck by ricocheting fragments from the suspect’s bullets. The victims went to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police scoured the neighborhood for the suspect, but were unable to find him.
Police are still working to gather more details about the suspect—witnesses described him only as a black male in his 20s—and robbery detectives are asking for anyone with information to call (206) 684-5535.
