Events Traffic Advisory for Wednesday, Aug 31 – Monday, Sept 5

SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city this week that will affect area traffic. Bumbershoot starts Friday through Sunday at Seattle Center. PAX West also starts Friday and runs through Monday. The Washington Huskies’ homeopener is Saturday at Husky Stadium. The Mariners play Friday through Monday at Safeco Field.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2 – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4:

Bumbershoot: 46th annual music festival at Seattle Center also includes comedy, theater, film, art and dance performances. Festival gates open at 1:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. About 35,000 people are expected to attend each day.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2 – MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 5:

PAX West: At the Washington State Convention Center. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday. 9th Ave will be closed between Pine St and Pike St. About 25,000 people are expected to attend each day.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3:

University of Washington Huskies vs. Rutgers, 11 a.m. at Husky Stadium. About 70,000 people are expected to attend.

SEATTLE MARINERS SCHEDULE AT SAFECO FIELD:

Friday, September 2, Mariners vs. LA Angels, 7:10 p.m. About 32,000 people are expected to attend.

Saturday, September 3, Mariners vs. LA Angels, 6:10 p.m. About 34,000 people are expected to attend.

Sunday, September 4, Mariners vs. LA Angels, 1:10 p.m. About 31,000 people are expected to attend.

Monday, September 5, Mariners vs. Texas Rangers 1:10 p.m. About 22,000 people are expected to attend.

Resurfacing 6th Ave S near S Hinds St September 1-2

SDOT advises travelers in the Sodo neighborhood that crews will resurface 6th Ave S between S Hinds St and S Hanford St this week. This work is weather dependent.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 1 and Friday, September 2, travelers can expect the following:

  • SDOT will resurface the northbound lanes of 6th Ave S between S Hinds St and S Hanford St.
  • The northbound lanes of 6th Ave S will be closed.
  • North and southbound traffic will be moved to east side of 6th ave S.
    • Travelers may have to wait up to 15 minutes for equipment to clear.
    • There will be flaggers to assist with traffic control.
  • There will be no parking in the work zone.

This project is part of SDOT’s 2016 Arterial Major Maintenance (AMM) program. The AMM program maintains our busiest streets by making strategic small scale investments at key locations on city streets.

Lane Restrictions on Highland Park Way SW in South Park Aug 30-31

SDOT advises travelers in the South Park neighborhood that crews will grind and pave Highland Park Way SW between W Marginal Way and SW Myrtle St this week. This work is weather dependent.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30 and Wednesday, August 31, travelers can expect the following:

  • SDOT will grind and repave Highland Park Way SW from W Marginal Way to SW Myrtle St.
  • The eastbound lanes will be closed. West and eastbound travel will be available on the north side of Highland Park Way SW.
    • Travelers may enter and exit driveways, but may have to wait up to 15 minutes for equipment to clear.
  • There will be no parking in the work zone.
  • Police officers will help with traffic control at the intersection Highland Park Way SW at W Marginal Way.
