East Precinct officers arrested a man last night in Madison Park after receiving calls that he was waiving a handgun around on the street.
On May 11th, at approximately 10:00 pm, officers responded to the 4200 block of East Madison Street for multiple 911 calls of an intoxicated individual waving a gun around while standing in front of businesses. Officers arrived and located a male matching the witness description. While detaining the man, officers spoke with witnesses who stated that the man had placed the handgun inside a parked vehicle on Madison Street prior to the officers arriving. Officers located the gun on the floorboard of the vehicle. A check of the suspect’s name showed he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and a protection order prohibiting him from possessing a gun. The man was arrested and later booked into the King County Jail.
The car’s owner showed up and gave officers consent to search the vehicle and recover the gun. Detectives will handle the follow up investigation.
