Detectives followed a trail of stolen tools all the way to Spanaway, Washington after a contractor working on a Seattle school had several thousand dollars worth of tools stolen and later found them for sale online.
The contractor contacted police after thousands of dollars worth of cable, air systems and tools were taken from his Lincoln High School construction site in the 4400 block of Interlake Avenue North on February 5th.
The contractor located several of the items on Offerup.com on February 13th and contacted police, who set up a meeting with the seller at a home in Ballard the next day.
Detectives arrested the 40-year-old seller, found three stolen saws in his home, and learned he’d re-sold several stolen tools in Spanaway. Police were able to recover all the items and return them to the contractor.
