Long-Term Northbound Lane Closure on 4th Ave S over Argo Bridge Starts October 17

SDOT will close the northbound curb side (right) lane on 4th Ave S over Argo bridge for nine to twelve months starting October 17, 2017, for 24 hours a day. The northbound lane closure on 4th Ave S begins just north of S Dawson St and extends to just south of the Costco parking lot. This lane closure enables crews to do necessary maintenance of the bridge and will ensure safe operation for traffic on the structure.

During this time, two lanes of southbound traffic will be maintained; freight traffic will be restricted to the center lane. The sidewalk on the west side of the bridge will remain open to bikes and pedestrians.

Beginning October 17, 2017, and lasting approximately nine to twelve months, travelers can expect:

• The right lane of northbound 4th Ave S over Argo bridge (just north of S Dawson St and extending to just south of the Costco parking lot) to be closed
• Southbound freight traffic will be restricted to the center lane
• The west side sidewalk will remain open for bikes and pedestrians

Construction zone notification signs will be placed around the work zone before the start of work.

Once the work is complete, channelization will be restored to four lanes of traffic; however, trucks rated OL2 will not be permitted on the bridge and there will likely be a load restriction on trucks rated EV3.

SDOT appreciates the public’s patience while this work is completed. If you have questions, please call us at 206-684-4193 or email us at adonis.ducksworth@seattle.gov.
