NE 98th St Retaining Wall Construction begins August 28 through early December

SDOT advises travelers of construction and traffic impacts on NE 98th St between 20th Ave NE and 23rd Ave NE beginning on Monday, August 28. This work is expected to continue through early December 2017 as crews retrofit the existing retaining wall.

From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays beginning Monday, August 28 through early December 2017, travelers can expect:

  • Eastbound traffic on NE 98th St will be detoured at 20th Ave NE for the duration of construction
    • Drivers should follow the signed detour: right on 20th Ave NE, left on NE 97th St, continue on 23rd Ave NE to return to eastbound NE 98th St
  • Westbound traffic on NE 98th St will be maintained with some delays and temporary stops by flaggers
  • Pedestrian access to the 20th Ave NE stairway and to sidewalks on NE 98th St will be maintained; bicyclists and drivers can share through traffic in the westbound direction, or bicyclists can use sidewalks
