Update: Events Traffic Advisory for Tuesday, August 8 – Sunday, August 13

SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening in the city that may affect traffic. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is closing the Montlake Bridge (SR 513) from Friday night to Monday morning. WSDOT will reduce the northbound lanes of the Aurora Bridge to one lane on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Metallica is in concert Wednesday night at CenturyLink Field. The Mariners play Thursday through Sunday at Safeco Field. The Seattle Sounders play Sunday at CenturyLink Field.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 8 – SATURDAY, AUGUST 12:

International DOTA 2 Championships at KeyArena. Events start at 10:20 a.m. daily. About 11,000 people are expected to attend each day.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 9:

Metallica Concert at CenturyLink Field at 6 p.m. About 50,000 people are expected to attend.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 9 – SUNDAY, AUGUST 13:

Madame Butterfly continues at McCaw Hall. Wednesday, August 9 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, August 12 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, August 13 at 2 p.m. About 2,900 people are expected to attend each show.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 11:

South Lake Union Block Party: Food and music festival at South Lake Union Discovery Center at Denny Way and Westlake Ave N from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. About 3,000 people are expected to attend.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 12:

Rainier Valley Heritage Parade & Festival: Annual community parade along Rainier Ave S between S Dawson St and S Alaska St. Parade at 10 a.m. Festival and car show from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. About 5,000 people are expected to attend.

Seattle Sounders vs. Sporting Kansas City at 1 p.m. at CenturyLink Field. About 40,000 people are expected to attend.

Slayer Concert at 7 p.m. at WaMu Theater. About 7,000 people are expected to attend.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 13:

Obliteride: 25-, 50- and 100-mile bicycle ride to raise money to obliterate cancer. Riders start in waves beginning at 7 a.m. through 10:30 a.m. at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in South Lake Union. About 2,000 people are expected to participate.

Lake Union 10K: Run/Walk around Lake Union starts at 7:30 a.m. at Westlake Ave N near 8th Ave N and heads north. Two northbound lanes of Westlake Ave N will be closed to traffic until all participants reach the Fremont Bridge and proceed onto the sidewalk. The route crosses the Fremont Bridge, heads east on 34th, onto the Burke Gilman Trail to NE Pacific St to NE 40th St, right onto University Bridge, onto Fairview Ave E and back to South Lake Union. About 1,500 people are expected to participate.

Magnolia Village Car Show: From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on W McGraw St between 32nd Ave W and 34th Ave W. About 900 people are expected to attend.

Greaseball Custom Car and Bike Show: Event will close 1st Ave S between S Lucile St and S Fidalgo St from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. About 720 people are expected to attend.

SEATTLE MARINERS SCHEDULE AT SAFECO FIELD:

Thursday, August 10, Seattle Mariners vs. L.A. Angels at 7:10 p.m. About 35,000 people are expected to attend.

Friday, August 11, Seattle Mariners vs. L.A. Angels at 7:10 p.m. About 43,000 people are expected to attend.

Saturday, August 12, Seattle Mariners vs. L.A. Angels at 6:10 p.m. About 46,000 people are expected to attend.

Sunday August 13, Seattle Mariners vs. L.A. Angels at 1:10 p.m. About 43,000 people are expected to attend.
