Patrol officers from the East Precinct arrested a 43-year-0ld man wanted for robbery Tuesday afternoon near Jose Rizal Park.
Around 7:15 pm on July 18th, while walking near 12th Avenue South and South Weller Street, a man observed the suspect in a fight with a woman. As he approached with his cell phone attempting to record the disturbance, the suspect, who was armed with a knife, turned his attention toward him. The suspect demanded the victim’s cell phone. The victim was able to run away, but the suspect gave chase, slashing at the victim with his knife. The victim was able to get away and saw the suspect get into a car and leave the area. Officers arrived but did not locate the suspect.
Information developed during the investigation led detectives to the identity of the suspect. Officers located the suspect yesterday afternoon and arrested him without incident. He was interviewed by detectives and then booked into the King County Jail for investigation of robbery.
