SEATTLE – On Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 1:10 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 6200 Blk. of Ravenna Ave. NE for a single-family residential home fire.
When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the windows and flames in the basement. Ladder 9 cut open the basement garage door while Engine 40 and Engine 39 worked to extinguish the fire in the basement and on the main floor. The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, and a primary and secondary search confirmed no people or pets were inside the home. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire by 1:51 p.m.
Fire investigators ruled the fire as accidental, and determined the cause was from overheated wires which ignited the adjacent wood structure. The estimated loss is $74,000.
