Café Fiore and Cocina Esperanza Fire

On June 16, 2017, at 11:28 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 3100 Blk. of NW 85th St. for a fire that impacted two businesses.

When crews arrived, they saw flames showing from the exterior of a wood-frame structure. Firefighters quickly laid hose lines and extinguished the fire within ten minutes. The fire had started on the exterior of the south wall of the building, spread to the awning, and then into the structure. Both Café Fiore and Cocina Esperanza were impacted. There were no reported injuries.

Fire Investigation Unit members ruled the fire as incendiary. Fire investigators determined the cause was from ignition of combustible materials on wooden chairs located on the outside of the building. The estimated loss is $130,000. Seattle Police Department’s Arson and Bomb Unit is investigating.
