Events Traffic Advisory for Tuesday, May 16 – Sunday, May 21

SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening in the city that may affect traffic. The Seattle Mariners play at Safeco Field Tuesday through Sunday. The University Street Fair happens Saturday and Sunday in the U-District. The Nordstrom Beat the Bridge Run/Walk is Sunday morning and affects the University Bridge. The Seattle Sounders play Saturday afternoon at CenturyLink Field.

TUESDAY, MAY 16:

Private Event at Fremont Studios. Event will also close N 35th St between Phinney Ave N and 1st Ave NW from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday. About 2,000 people are expected to attend.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 17:

Open Rehearsal Student Concert at Benaroya Hall from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Buses will drop off and pick up students at various locations around the venue. About 1,500 students are expected to attend.

Seattle 17th of May Festival: Annual Ballard neighborhood festival includes a parade celebrating Norway’s Constitution Day. Festival starts at 10 a.m., parade goes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. About 4,000 people are expected to attend.

FRIDAY, MAY 19:

F5 Bike Everywhere Day: Event to celebrate and encourage bicycling as transportation, begins at 6 a.m. Celebration stations will be set up along major travel routes throughout the city.

SATURDAY, MAY 20:

South Lake Union Saturday Market on 9th Avenue between Denny Way and John S. from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. About 1,000 people are expected to attend.

Stars on Ice at KeyArena. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. About 5,000 people are expected to attend.

SATURDAY, MAY 20 – SUNDAY, MAY 21:

University Street Fair: On University Way NE between NE 50th St and NE Campus Parkway. Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. About 20,000 people are expected to attend.

SUNDAY, MAY 21:

Nordstrom Beat the Bridge 8K Run and Walk: Annual fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. A 3-mile walk starts at 8 a.m. followed by an 8K run at 8:30 a.m. The University Bridge goes up at 8:50 a.m. About 8,500 people are expected to participate.

West Seattle 5K Run/Walk: The fundraising event for West Seattle High School will take place along Alki Ave SW starting at 9:20 a.m. About 1,400 people are expected to participate.

Great Strides Seattle: A 3-mile walk to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The walk begins and ends at Seattle Center, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Participants will remain on sidewalks. About 650 people are expected to participate.

Spring Opener: Car and Bike show from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Airport Way between Corson Ave S and S Bailey St. About 500 people are expected to attend.

Tuesday, May 16, Mariners vs. Oakland A’s, 7:10 p.m. About 18,000 people are expected to attend.

Wednesday, May 17 Mariners vs. Oakland A’s, 7:10 p.m. About 18,000 people are expected to attend.

Thursday, May 18, Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox, 7:10 p.m. About 20,000 people are expected to attend.

Friday, May 19, Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox, 7:10 p.m. About 37,000 people are expected to attend.

Saturday, May 20, Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox, 7:10 p.m. About 42,000 people are expected to attend.

Sunday, May 21, Mariners vs. Chicago White Sox, 1:10 p.m. About 41,000 people are expected to attend.

SEATTLE SOUNDERS AT CENTURYLINK FIELD:

Saturday, May 20, Sounders FC vs. Real Salt Lake at 2 p.m. About 45,000 people are expected to attend.
