Green Lake Residential Fire

SEATTLE – On Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 1:25 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 7400 block of 5th Avenue NE for an apartment fire.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy black smoke coming from the north side of the apartment complex and smoke pouring out of the upper window on the east side of the building. Firefighters quickly established a hose line, evacuated and searched the apartment complex, and successfully extinguished the fire by 2:13 p.m.

There were no injuries from this incident. Seattle Police Department was on scene for traffic and the Red Cross notified for displaced residents.

Fire Investigation Unit members determined the cause to be from overheated electrical cords that ignited combustibles. The estimated loss is $70,000.
