Temporary Turn Restriction at Intersection of 23rd Avenue and East Union Street February 7-8

SDOT advises travelers of construction and a temporary turn restriction at the intersection of 23rd Ave and E Union St from February 7 – 8. This schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change. In the event of unsuitable weather, the work may be postponed to later in the week.

From 7 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, travelers can expect the following:

  • Right turns from southbound 23rd Ave to westbound E Union St will be closed to traffic.
    • Drivers seeking to head westbound from southbound 23rd Ave will continue south on 23rd Ave to E Cherry St and use 14th Ave to return to East Union St.
    • Northbound 23rd Ave remains closed between E Union St and E John Street with a detour to Martin Luther King Jr Way.
    • All other directions of travel through the intersection will be maintained.
  • The King County Metro bus stop on the northwest corner of 23rd Ave and E Union St, which serves Route 2 (westbound) and Route 48 (northbound), will be temporarily moved to 22nd Ave during this work. For information about bus service and Rider Alerts, visit Metro Online at http://metro.kingcounty.gov/alerts/ or call 206-553-3000.
  • Pedestrian crossings will be maintained and clearly marked.

SDOT would like to thank the public for its patience while this work is completed as part of the 23rd Avenue Corridor Improvements Project. For more information on this project go to: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/23rd_Ave.htm.
