Events Traffic Advisory for Tuesday, Jan. 10 – Monday, Jan. 16

SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city that may affect area traffic. There are several rallies and marches to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day happening Friday through Monday. Also, WSDOT will close eastbound I-90 between Seattle and Bellevue from Friday night to Monday morning.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 13:

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday March: Students from the McDonald International School at 144 NE 54th St will march on the sidewalks in the Green Lake/Latona neighborhood in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Seattle Police will escort the march from 8:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Orca K-8 School Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day March: Student march from Orca K-8 School to Columbia City. Seattle Police will escort the march from 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Giddens School Martin Luther King Jr. March: Students from Giddens School will march to Pratt Park in the Central District. Seattle Police will escort the march is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 14:

Martin Luther King Jr. Youth March and Celebration: Seattle Parks and Recreation invites the public to join a youth-organized march to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Seattle Police will escort a student march from MLK Memorial Park to Rainier Community Center from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 15:

Our First Stand: Save Health Care Rally: Rally at Westlake Park in support of Medicare. Rally from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
