West Seattle Residential Fire: Firefighters Rescue Animals

SEATTLE – On Tuesday, January 3, 2016, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Firefighters were dispatched to SW Spokane and SW Manning Streets for a residential fire. Reports indicated animals may be still inside the home.

Firefighters arrived to a large amount of smoke in the area. Firefighters immediately entered the home, completed a primary search and ventilated the fire through a vertical vent. A secondary search was completed and the fire extinguished by 1:53 p.m.

There were no reported injuries. Firefighters rescued a cat and a dog from the basement and Firefighter Paramedics examined the animals.

Fire Investigation Unit members are currently investigating the cause of fire and estimated damages.
