Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding an October 1st sexual assault in Seward Park and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
On Saturday, just before 1:30 pm, officers responded to Seward Park for a report of a sexual assault that occurred while the victim was running along the lower loop. Officers met with the woman who stated that an unknown male approached her and grabbed her, pulling her toward him.
She described the suspect as a black male, approximately 25 years old, light-skinned, 5’6″ tall with a medium build. The suspect was described as having short black hair and a goatee. He was wearing a black and red zip up jacket (thin material) and grey, lightweight sweatpants.
The victim stated that the suspect had his pants down and was rubbing himself on her. After a brief struggle, the woman was able to break free and the suspect ran off.
Officers, including a K-9 team and Harbor Patrol, conducted an extensive search of the park but did not locate the suspect.
