Events Traffic Advisory for Wednesday, Sept. 28 – Sunday, Oct. 2

SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city this week that will affect area traffic. Today is the first day of classes at the University of Washington. The Seattle Sounders FC also play tonight at CenturyLink Field. The UW Huskies vs. Stanford football game is Friday evening. The Mariners host Oakland at Safeco Field, Thursday through Sunday.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28:

University of Washington first day of 2016 Autumn Quarter: Expect congestion and delays in neighborhood around the University of Washington campus.

Seattle Sounders vs. Chicago Fire, 7:30 p.m. at CenturyLink Field. About 45,000 people are expected to attend.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29:

Mass of the Holy Spirit Procession: Seattle University hosts a blessing procession for the start of the academic year. The procession is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and starts at E Marion Street and 18th Avenue, travels west on E Marion to 12th Avenue, and ends on campus. About 410 participants are expected.

Up Your Ave: Annual event introduces new University of Washington students to local businesses along University Way NE, by sending them on a scavenger hunt through the neighborhood. From 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. About 1,205 people are expected to attend.

Sia Concert: “Nostalgic for The Present” Tour with special guests Miguel and AlunaGeorge at 7 p.m. at KeyArena.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30:

Seattle Symphony Friday Matinees Concert: At Benaroya Hall from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Student buses will stage on streets around Benaroya Hall.

Washington Huskies vs. Stanford Cardinal: At 6 p.m. at Husky Stadium. Montlake Blvd NE between NE 44th St and NE Pacific St will close at 7:15 p.m. until approximately one hour after the game. Expect heavy congestion and delays around Husky Stadium. About 70,000 people are expected to attend.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2:

Macefield Music Festival: A three-day indoor music and arts festival in the Ballard neighborhood. On Saturday, the festival will move outdoors to 20th Ave NW between Ballard Ave NW and Shilshole Ave NW.  The street will be closed from 6 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Sunday. About 925 people are expected to attend.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2:

Magnolia Run the Bluff: The 5K and 10K run/walk starts and finishes on W Smith St adjacent to Magnolia Playground, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Course will use streets throughout the Magnolia community. About 900 people are expected to participate.

SEATTLE MARINERS SCHEDULE AT SAFECO FIELD:

Seattle Mariners vs. Oakland A’s, Thursday, September 29, 7:10 p.m. at Safeco Field. About 26,00 people are expected to attend.

Seattle Mariners vs. Oakland A’s, Friday, September 30, 7:10 p.m. at Safeco Field. About 33,000 people are expected to attend.

Seattle Mariners vs. Oakland A’s, Saturday October 1, 6:10 p.m. at Safeco Field. About 34,000 people are expected to attend.

Seattle Mariners vs. Oakland A’s, Sunday, October 2, 12:10 p.m. at Safeco Field. About 34,000 people are expected to attend.
