Events Traffic Advisory for Wednesday, July 20 – Sunday, July 24

SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city this week that will affect area traffic. Sting & Peter Gabriel play at Key Arena Thursday night. The Capitol Hill Block Party happens Friday through Sunday. Kenny Chesney is in concert at CenturyLink Field on Saturday night.

THURSDAY, JULY 21:

Sting & Peter Gabriel Concert: Music legends unite for a performance at Key Arena starting at 8 p.m.  About 12,500 people are expected to attend.

FRIDAY, JULY 22:

Festival of the Fountains: 50th annual outdoor gala at Pacific Science Center at Seattle Center. The event starts at 6 p.m. About 550 people are expected to attend.

FRIDAY, JULY 22 – SUNDAY, JULY 24:

Capitol Hill Block Party: Three-day festival celebrating Capitol Hill’s music and arts scene. The festival is between Broadway and 12th Ave from E Pine St to E Union St and runs Friday, 2 p.m. to 12 a.m., Saturday, 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Sunday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. E Pike St will close at 12 a.m. and remaining streets at 2 a.m. Friday morning. About 9,000 people per day are expected to attend.

SATURDAY, JULY 23:

West Seattle Grand Parade and 5K: Run begins at 9 a.m. on California Ave SW at SW Admiral Way to SW Edmunds St. Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. on same route. Streets are closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Kenny Chesney Concert: At 5 p.m. at CenturyLink Field. About 45,000 people are expected to attend.

SATURDAY, JULY 23 – SUNDAY, JULY 24TH: 

Seafair Triathlon and Expo: Expo starts Saturday at 12 p.m. in Seward Park, followed by the Seafair Triathlon and Kid’s Triathlon on Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. through 12 p.m. The cycle course goes along Lake Washington from Seward Park north to the I-90 bridge. About 2,300 people are expected to participate.

Alki Art Fair: Art, music, food and kids’ activities at Alki Beach Park. The fair runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. About 8,000 people are expected to attend.

SUNDAY, JULY 24TH: 

Chinatown Seafair Parade: Celebrating the community’s diversity and culture with marching bands, floats and a 100-foot dragon through the International District. The parade starts at 7 p.m. and travels west on S King St from 8th Ave S to 5th Ave S, turns south on 5th Ave S, east on S Weller St and back to 8th Ave S. Streets are closed from 6 p.m. through 9 p.m. About 9,000 people are expected to attend.
