Events Traffic Advisory for Tuesday, June 14 – Sunday, June 19

SDOT advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city this week that will affect area traffic. There are two COPA America Centenario soccer games at CenturyLink Field, tonight and Thursday night. The Fremont Fair happens this Friday through Sunday, with the Fremont Solstice Parade on Saturday afternoon. The Rock n’ Roll Seattle Marathon closes the Alaskan Way Viaduct on Saturday morning.

COPA CENTENARIO INTERNAT’L SOCCER AT CENTURYLINK FIELD:

Argentina vs. Bolivia, Tuesday, June 14th, 7:00 p.m. About 60,000 people are expected to attend.

USA vs. Ecuador, Thursday, June 16th, 6:30 p.m. About 60,000 people are expected to attend.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15:

Seafair Festival Kickoff: At Westlake Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Exhibits, food vendors and information on Seafair activities. About 1,000 people are expected to attend.

THURSDAY & FRIDAY, JUNE 16 & 17:

Rock N’ Roll Marathon Expo: Health and fitness exhibition and runner registration at CenturyLink Field Event Center from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday. About 20,000 people are expected to attend the expo.

FRIDAY, JUNE 17:

Honkfest! West: Music festival featuring over 25 street bands in Cal Anderson Park and on E Denny Way between E Broadway and 11th Ave from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  About 1,800 are expected to attend.

FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY, JUNE 17, 18 & 19

Fremont Solstice Fair and Parade: The Solstice Music Festival begins Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.  On Saturday, the festival runs from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Fremont Solstice Parade starts at 3:00 p.m. and the music festival continues until 11:30 p.m. The parade starts at 3rd Ave NW and Leary Way, heads east on NW 36th St, south on Fremont, east on N 34th to N Northlake Way into Gas Works Park.  The craft market and festival continues Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. About 35,000 people are expected over the weekend.

The festival closes N 35th St. from Fremont Ave N to Phinney Ave N at 6:00 a.m. Friday to 11:00 p.m. Sunday. N 34th St is closed from Fremont Ave N to Phinney Ave N from 3:00 p.m. Friday to 11:00 p.m. Sunday.  N Canal St and N 35th St are closed from 1:00 p.m. Friday from Phinney Ave N to 2nd Ave NW to 11:00 p.m. Sunday.

SATURDAY, JUNE 18:

Rock N’ Roll Seattle Marathon, Half Marathon & 8K: All races start at Seattle Center at 7:00 a.m. with city street closures starting at 6:00 a.m. The Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the northbound direction and the I-90 Express lanes will be closed from 4:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The route goes south on Dexter Ave N to the Alaskan Way Viaduct, exits at Seneca St, south on 2nd Ave to 4th Ave S to S Dearborn St. The 8K u-turns west to S Royal Brougham and finishes on Occidental Ave S.

The marathon and half marathon continue west on S Dearborn St, south on Rainier Ave S, east on S Genesee St turning north on 43rd Ave S where the course splits. The half marathon course continues north on Lake Washington Blvd, east through the Mt Baker tunnel on I-90 express lanes to 4th Ave S, west on Seattle Blvd, south on 4th Ave S, west on Royal Brougham and finishes on Occidental Ave S. The marathon turns south on Lake Washington Blvd, around Seward Park, returns north on Lake Washington Blvd, out and back on the I-90 express lanes and follows the half marathon course to the finish.

Morgan Community Festival:  The 10th anniversary celebration of West Seattle’s Morgan Junction neighborhood in Morgan Junction Park at  California Ave SW and SW Eddy St from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. About 750 people expected to attend.

SUNDAY, JUNE 19:

Honkfest! West:  Music festival continues in Columbia City from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. S Ferdinand St between 35th Ave S and Rainier Ave S and 37th Ave S between S Edmunds St to S Hudson St will be closed from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  About 1,800 people are expected to attend.
