Temporary Parking Restrictions on Renton Avenue South for Repaving

SDOT advises drivers that crews will be installing curb ramps and curb bulbs as part of the Renton Avenue South Repaving Project. This work starts on Wednesday, June 15, and is expected to require three months, during which time parking will not be available on Renton Avenue South between 51st Avenue South and South Ryan Street.

Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and two-way traffic will be maintained on Renton Avenue South, but delays should be expected. Crews will replace curb ramps and short sections of the sidewalk at 11 different intersections along Renton Avenue South before the street itself is repaved. Flaggers will be positioned at cross streets to direct traffic and assist pedestrians.

The Renton Avenue South Repaving Project will improve safety for all users of Renton Avenue South, a minor arterial street serving approximately 8,800 southeast Seattle commuters, transit users and commercial vehicles daily. Repaving of Renton Avenue South between South Holden Street and 51st Avenue South was completed in spring 2016, and work between South Ryan Street and South 112th Place is expected to begin this fall.
