Detectives are looking for the man responsible for an assault and attempted rape of a 72-year-old woman at her Capitol Hill home.
On Saturday, May 7th, at approximately 11:45 am, the woman had just entered her residence near 17th Avenue and East Denny Way when she noticed the suspect standing in her front door.
The suspect knocked the woman to the ground, attempted to sexually assault her and struck her several times. The victim elbowed the suspect in the face and the suspect eventually left. After the man left, the victim was able to call 911. Officers, medics, forensics specialists and Sexual Assault Unit detectives responded to the scene. East Precinct patrol officers conducted an exhaustive search for the suspect, but they were unable to locate the suspect.
Medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center, where she is receiving care for serious injuries sustained during the attack.
Detectives are now working to identify the suspect, who was described as a black male, 40-50 years old, with a dark complexion and a heavy build. He was described as having a long face and a thin nose, and unkempt short hair. He was last seen wearing a red and black lightweight parka and jeans.
