SDOT is advising travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city through the weekend that will affect area traffic. The New Year’s at the Needle party, and Amy Schumer concert at KeyArena on Thursday night are expected to bring large crowds into lower Queen Anne and South Lake Union. The Resolution New Year’s Eve party is Thursday night in SODO at the WAMU Theater. A New Year’s Day run at Magnuson Park starts at 10:30 a.m. Happy New Year and safe travels!
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 31st
New Year’s At The Needle: The 31st annual fireworks display and celebration will ring in 2016 at 11:59 p.m. About 16,000 people are expected to join the festivities in and around the Seattle Center.
Amy Schumer at KeyArena: Comedian Amy Schumer performs at KeyArena starting at 8 p.m. About 10,000 people are expected to attend.
Resolution New Year’s Eve Party: New Year’s Eve celebration at the WaMu Theater featuring dancing with musical artists, acrobats and performers. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. About 6,500 people are expected to attend.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 1st
Resolution Run: A 5K walk/run through Magnuson Park with an optional Polar Bear Dive into Lake Washington. The race starts at 10:30 a.m. About 1,800 people are expected to participate.
