309 Pontius Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109

Located on the southeast shore of Lake Union, the bridge is next to the historic Lake Union Steam Plant building (ZymoGenetics). The current bridge, built more than 65 years ago, is structurally deficient and seismically vulnerable, and needs to be replaced. The new bridge will provide wider travel lanes, sidewalks on both sides with viewpoints along the lake, and a two-way protected bike lane. It will also accommodate future transit expansion.

Construction is planned to begin in spring 2017 with a full bridge closure that will last approximately 15 months.

We are committed to using taxpayer dollars efficiently and shorten the length of construction projects whenever possible. We are conducting a traffic analysis, coordinating with King County Metro and facilitating a parking study as part of our planning for a full bridge closure.
