Events Advisory for Tuesday, Sept. 22 -Sunday, Sept. 27

SDOT is advising travelers to be aware of several events happening around the city through the weekend that will affect area traffic. Most notably, the Chinese delegation arrives Tuesday and will depart Thursday morning; significant impacts to the greater Seattle area and downtown are expected. The Sounders FC play Wednesday night at CenturyLink; the Chinese delegation visit will impact area traffic, please plan your trip accordingly. The Bite of Broadview runs Friday through the weekend. The End Aids 5K is Saturday. UW Huskies Football is Saturday afternoon. The Seattle Seahawks take on the Bears Sunday at CenturyLink. Go Hawks!

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22nd – THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24th:

PRESIDENT XI JINPING VISIT: Seattle will host the Chinese delegation over three days. Traffic will be significantly impacted on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and throughout the day on Wednesday. Traffic alerts and information at: https://twitter.com/seattledot/ and www.seattle.gov/travelers/.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMER 23RD:

SOUNDERS AT CENTURYLINK FIELD:

Sounders FC vs. Vancouver, Wednesday, September 23rd, at 7 p.m. About 30,000 people are expected.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th:

BITE OF BROADVIEW:   Fall community festival at Christ the King Parish School and surrounding streets will have a carnival, car show and marketplace. Hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. NE 117th Street will be closed from Phinney Ave N to Dayton Ave N.  About 2,000 people are expected to attend.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th:

END AIDS WALK AND 5K RUN:  Walk and run to raise awareness and funding supports HIV prevention and care services for people affected by HIV and AIDS. The run starts in Capitol Hill’s Volunteer Park at 9:30 a.m. from the south gate. The route turns east onto E Prospect St, north on 15th Ave E, west on Howe St, south on Federal Ave E, east on E Prospect St, south on 12 Ave E turning north back to the park at E John St. About 2, 500 people are expected to walk and run.

UW HUSKIES FOOTBALL AT HUSKY STADIUM:

Huskies vs. California, Saturday, September 26th, at 2:00 p.m. About 70,000 people are expected.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th:

SEAHAWKS TAILGATE: Fans can gather and celebrate the Seahawks with games, interactive exhibits and local food in Pioneer Square’s Occidental Park between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  About 1,000 fans are expected to attend.

SEAHAWKS AT CENTURYLINK FIELD:

Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears, on Sunday, September 27th, at 1:25 p.m. About 70,000 people are expected.
