Events Advisory for Tuesday, Sept. 15 -Sunday, Sept. 20

SDOT is advising travelers to be aware of several events happening around the city through the weekend that will affect area traffic. The Boats Afloat Show runs Wednesday through the weekend. The Seattle Summer Parkways is Saturday in Ballard.  The Susan Komen 3-day walk is Friday through Sunday. UW Huskies Football is Saturday afternoon. The Fremont Oktoberfest runs Friday through the Sunday. The Mariners play tonight and Wednesday.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER, 16th – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th:

BOATS AFLOAT SHOW: Seattle’s 37th annual boat show on Lake Union starts Wednesday and continues through Sunday. Weekday hours are 11a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. About 6,300 people are expected to attend throughout the show.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th:

SAINT BENEDICT WALLINGFORD WURST FESTIAL:   The Wallingford Wurst Festival celebrates the end of summer with games for kids, crafts, book sale, bratwurst, and a beer garden. The festival begins Friday from 4 p.m. to midnight, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight.  About 4,000 people are expected to attend during the festival.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th:

SUSAN G. KOMAN SEATTLE 3 DAY: The 60-mile journey to support the fight to end breast cancer begins at the Seattle Center on Friday from 6:30 a.m. to noon. The route opens at 7 a.m. and walkers will travel though portions of downtown before taking the I-90 trail to the Eastside. On Sunday, the walkers return and the route continue through Lake Union, Ballard and Magnolia before returning to the Seattle Center for the closing ceremony. About 750 people are expected to participate.

FREMONT OKTOBERFEST:  The annual celebration of fall with over two blocks of beer gardens.  The festival runs Friday from 5 p.m. to midnight; Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight and on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. N 35th St and N Canal St will be closed between Phinney Ave N and 2nd Ave NW. A 5K run takes place on Sunday at 10 a.m.  Over 16,000 people are expected to attend over the three days.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th:

SEATTLE SUMMER PARKWAYS: Traverse through the Ballard neighborhood on a 7-mile bicycle route that showcases a planned bikeway and a route linking parks, community centers and other community spaces along the way.  Activities and events are along the route from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  About 2,000 people are expected to attend.

SUSTAINABLE BALLARD FESTIVAL:  The12th annual garden party festival in Ballard Commons park celebrating local foods, crafts and demonstrations on how to live more lightly on the earth.  The festival runs from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m. and will close NW 58th St and 22nd Ave NW adjacent to the park.  About 4,000 people are expected to attend.

UW HUSKIES FOOTBALL AT HUSKY STADIUM:

  • Huskies vs. Utah State, Saturday, September 19th at 2 p.m. About 70,000 people are expected to attend.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20th:

MOUNT BAKER TOWN CENTER STREET FESTIVAL: A Street festival centered around the Mount Baker Link light rail station runs from 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. There will be music, food, art exhibits and the Bicycle Sunday route will be extended from Lake Washington Boulevard all the way to Cheasty Boulevard to connect with the station. About 350 people are expected to attend.

MARINERS AT SAFECO FIELD:

  • Mariners vs. Los Angeles, Tuesday, Sept. 15th, 7:10 p.m. About 21,000 people are expected to attend.
  • Mariners vs. Los Angeles, Wednesday, Sept. 16th, 7:10 p.m. About 23,000 people are expected to attend.
