Northbound I-5 overnight lane and ramp closures in Seattle this week

Drivers heading north out of downtown Seattle on Interstate 5 should prepare for possible overnight delays tonight, Aug. 17, through the morning of Thursday, Aug. 20.

Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will close several lanes and ramps on northbound I-5 between the Mercer Street on-ramp and the North 85th Street/Aurora Avenue North off-ramp for pavement repair work.

Closure details:

  • Monday, Aug. 17, to the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 18 (near Mercer Street)
    • The Mercer Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
    • The left lane of northbound I-5 from Mercer Street to Lakeview Boulevard East will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m
  • Tuesday, Aug. 18, to the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 19 (near Washington State Convention Center)
    • The right lane of northbound I-5 under the Washington State Convention Center will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
    • The Olive Way on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m
  • Wednesday, Aug. 19, to the morning of Thursday, Aug. 20 (near Lake City Way)
    • The Northeast 70th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will be closed from 11:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
    • The right lane of northbound I-5 from SR 522/Lake City Way Northeast to North 85th Street/Aurora Avenue North will be closed from 11:59 p.m. to 6 a.m.
    • The northbound I-5 off-ramp to North 85th Street/Aurora Avenue North will be closed from 11:59 p.m. to 6 a.m.
