Seattle Police are investigating after a shooting victim showed up at a Renton hospital early Thursday.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire at Renton Ave S and S Henderson St. shortly after midnight, but were unable to find any victims, damage or evidence of a shooting. However, about an hour later, a Renton hospital contacted SPD after an 18-year-old man walked in to the emergency room and said had been shot while in Seattle. Medical staff treated the man for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the back of his neck.
The victim told officers he had been asleep during the incident and did not know anything. Officers attempted to speak with the man who had driven the victim to the hospital, but learned he had left before police arrived.
A hospital security guard reported seeing bullet damage to the rear of the car that dropped the 18-year-old victim at the hospital.
Gang detectives will be handling the ongoing investigation of this incident.
