Murray welcomes the selection of Okamoto for City Council

Mayor Ed Murray today issued the following statement after the Seattle City Council appointed John Okamoto to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Sally Clark:

“John Okamoto is a respected civic leader and public servant. His broad background in transportation, human resources, education, and most recently as Interim Director of the Human Services Department, prepares him to take on the many issues before the City. John has contributed a great deal to issues important to our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. I look forward to working with John on housing affordability, transportation funding and many other critical issues this year.

I thank all of the candidates for contributing to a healthy public dialogue over the past few weeks.”
