Detectives are investigating whether car seized early this morning may be linked to a pair of masked gunmen, who robbed three people at gunpoint in a Queen Anne park.
Two women and a man were hanging out in Kerry Park–near 3rd Avenue West and West Prospect Street–around 2 AM when two suspects approached them.
The suspects, both wearing handkerchiefs over their faces and were armed with handguns, took the victims’ wallets and one victim’s cellphone and ordered them to run. The suspects then fired at least one shot into the air before fleeing to a silver Honda.
Officers stopped a silver Honda nearby, but the victims weren’t able to confirm the driver and passengers were the robbery suspects. Officers consulted with the department’s cellphone-tracking expert, but weren’t able to locate the victim’s phone.
After identifying the Honda’s driver and two passengers, police released the trio from the scene and seized their vehicle for detectives.
Robbery detectives are now investigating the case and will search the vehicle for evidence.
