Reminder: 24-hour full closure of Dexter Avenue N Saturday, March 21

Dexter Avenue N will be fully closed between Aloha and Mercer streets beginning 6 a.m. Saturday, March 21 through 8 a.m. Sunday, March 22.

(Aloha St. will remain open for east-west traffic. The intersection will remain open, Dexter Ave. N will just be closed south of Aloha St.)

Please note the boundaries of our work zone have changed since the previous announcement.

Travelers can expect the following impacts:

  • Vehicles and bicycles will be detoured to Ninth Avenue N.
  • Pedestrians may use the east side of Dexter Avenue N between Roy and Republican streets.
  • Westbound Mercer Street will be reduced to one lane between Ninth Avenue N and SR 99. One lane will remain open at all times.
  • All lanes on eastbound Mercer Street will be open.

Nighttime lane restrictions on Dexter Avenue N begin March 23

Dexter Avenue N will be fully closed between Aloha and Mercer streets nightly between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday. This closure will begin Monday, March 23 and is expected to continue weekly through late April. Travelers may expect the following during the closures:

  • Vehicles and bicycles will be detoured to Ninth Avenue N.
  • Pedestrians may continue to use the east side of Dexter Avenue N between Roy and Republican streets.
  • All lanes on Mercer Street will be open.

Sidewalk closed on the south side of Mercer Street, near McCaw Hall

The sidewalk along the south side of Mercer Street between Third Avenue N and Fourth Avenue N will be closed for restoration beginning March 23 for approximately two weeks. For your safety, please follow detour routes and cross the roadway at designated crossings. All crosswalks will remain open.

Pedestrian access to McCaw Hall will be maintained:

  • from Fourth Avenue N via the McCaw Hall elevator
  • from Third Avenue N via the Phelps Center ramp
  • from the Mercer Garage via the overhead walkway on level C.
