Events Traffic Advisory for Wednesday, Mar. 4 – Sunday, Mar. 8

SDOT advises travelers to be aware of events happening around the city through the weekend. The PAC-12 Women’s Basketball tournament runs Thursday through Sunday at KeyArena. There are Seattle Opera performances on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at McCaw Hall. The Sounders have their season opener on Sunday night at Centurylink with kickoff at 6:30 p.m. which is just after the 6 p.m. conclusion of the Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show at the adjacent Centurylink Events Center, so please plan ahead.

Benaroya Hall:

The Seattle Symphony has Open Rehearsal at Benaroya Hall on Wednesday, March 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with about 550 attendees expected. School buses will drop off and pick up students on Union, University, Seneca streets, and 2ndAvenue. Expect congestion in the vicinity of Benaroya Hall.

Seattle Opera at McCaw Hall:

George Frederic Handel’s opera Semele will have7:30 p.m. performances on Wednesday, March 4 and Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7. There are about 3,000 people expected to attend performances.

Sounders FC Kick-Off Week Viewing Party:

Sounder FC will host a viewing party on Friday, Mar. 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There are estimated about 200 expected to attend. The event will close Occidental Avenue S between S Jackson Street and S King Street on Friday, March 6.

Seattle Sounders at Centurylink Field:

The Seattle Sounders play New England on Sunday, March 8; 6:30 p.m. kickoff. About 38,000 people are expected to attend.

CenturyLink Field Events Center:

The Seattle Kennel Club Dog Show is on Saturday March 7, and Sunday, March. 8. The show goes 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

KeyArena Events:

2ndAnnual International Women’s Day Musical Brigade March and Rally:

The event happens on Saturday, Mar. 7 and about 225 people are expected to participate. The march in Columbia City starts at Rainier Avenue S and South Dawson Street, and goes to the Rainier Valley Cultural Center at S Alaska Street and 36 Avenue S. The march begins at 12 p.m. and lasts approximately 1 hour. The route starts at Rainier Avenue S. & S Dawson Street, north on Rainier to S Alaska Street; then west on Alaska to 36th Avenue S. The Seattle Police will escort the march.
