Police and fire officials found a man’s body inside the burnt remains of a tent after dousing a fire at an encampment above the Interstate 90 tunnel early Wednesday.
When the Seattle Fire Department and police arrived at the scene, shortly before 6 AM, they found a large fire had engulfed a tent in the wooded area on top of the I-90 tunnel near 12th Avenue South.
The body was discovered after they put out the fire. The Seattle Police arson/bomb unit responded to the scene and are working closely with the medical examiner to determine the man’s cause of death. At this time, the fire is believed to be accidental.
