Miller CC and Country Doctor Community Clinic spread cheer to thousands

Holiday magic swept through Miller Community Center Saturday, Dec. 13, when 1,055 toys were given to local children. Miller Community Center and the Country Doctor Community Clinic hosted their annual holiday party for patients and underprivileged families in Seattle.

About 2,500 people joined the celebration assisted by volunteers from Holy Names, the Seattle Police and Explorers, Country Doctor staff, Garfield High School students and Lake Street Catering.

Families enjoyed lunch and craft activities and received visits from Santa Claus and Miss Washington. Music was provided by DJ George Yasutake.

Every child went home with a toy donated from Toys for Kids, Toys for Tots, Thumbs Up Farm or Ira Culver House.  The leftover goodies were sent to Garfield Community Center, Atlantic House and the Union Gospel Mission.

Seattle Parks would like to thank Maintenance Laborer Robert Verdecias and clinic staff Laury Mckean and Darla Bratton for their support with this event.
