Mercer Corridor Project: Full closure of Fifth Avenue N in early December

The Seattle Department of Transportation advises travelers of the following activities within the Mercer Corridor Project area:

Full closure of Fifth Avenue N between Broad and Harrison streets Dec. 6-7

On the weekend of Dec. 6 and 7, Fifth Avenue North between Broad and Harrison streets will be fully closed in both directions as crews remove sidewalk and pavement for replacement. More details on this closure, including pedestrian and vehicle detour routes, will be released next week.

As a reminder, please be aware of the following closures throughout the project area:

  • Northbound Taylor Avenue North closed between Mercer and Roy streets through the end of the year as crews complete water line connections in the roadway. Southbound Taylor Avenue North will remain open.
  • Intermittent lane closures on Mercer Street between Dexter Avenue North and Fifth Avenue North during off-peak travel times between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to accommodate construction activities within the work zone. One westbound and up to two eastbound lanes will remain open on Mercer Street.
  • Northbound and southbound right lane on Fifth Avenue North between Republican and Harrison streets closed Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accommodate electrical work and sidewalk improvements. One lane in each direction on Fifth Avenue North will remain open at all times.

Also, no work on the Mercer Corridor Project will occur over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Please pay attention to road signs and drive safely.
