Mercer Corridor Project update, Nov. 5-7

The Seattle Department of Transportation advises travelers of the following activities within the Mercer Corridor Project area:

Full closure of Taylor Avenue North at Mercer Street Nov. 5-6

Beginning Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 5 a.m. and continuing until Thursday, Nov. 6 at 5 a.m., Taylor Avenue North will be fully closed between Roy and Mercer streets as crews pave a portion of the roadway. Travelers can expect the following impacts:

  • Turns to and from Mercer Street at Taylor Avenue North will be prohibited.
  • Travelers from Queen Anne should use Fifth Avenue North to access Mercer Street.
  • Local access to businesses on Taylor Avenue North between Mercer and Roy streets will be maintained from Roy Street.
  • Morning and evening travel times will be affected; please plan ahead and use alternate routes when possible.

Please note this work is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled if inclement weather occurs.

Following this work, Taylor Avenue Njorth will continue to be restricted to southbound travel only through November as crews complete additional paving in the roadway. Travelers from westbound Mercer Street should use Fifth Avenue North to continue north to the Queen Anne neighborhood.

Nighttime lane restrictions on Dexter Avenue N between Roy and Mercer streets Nov. 5-6

From 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 until 6 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, Dexter Avenue North will be restricted to one lane in each direction between Roy and Republican streets as crews pave the roadway. Travelers can expect the following impacts:

  • One lane only in each direction on Dexter Avenue North between Roy and Republican streets.
  • Bicyclists will be required to merge with vehicular traffic.

From 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7 until 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, Mercer Street will be fully closed to traffic between Dexter Avenue North and Ninth Avenue North as crews stripe sections of the roadway. This work is a critical step towards adding an additional eastbound lane on Mercer Street, anticipated to open later in November. During the closure, travelers can expect the following impacts:

  • Mercer Street will be fully closed to traffic between Dexter Avenue N and Ninth Avenue N.
  • Detour routes will be signed and police officers will manage traffic at key intersections on the detour route.
