Mercer Corridor Project: Lane restrictions on Fifth Avenue North; pedestrian changes throughout the corridor

The Seattle Department of Transportation advises travelers of the following activities within the Mercer Corridor Project area:

Lane restrictions on Fifth Avenue North

Fifth Avenue North will be restricted to one lane in each direction between Republican and Harrison streets on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This restriction started today, Oct. 27, and will last for several weeks during sidewalk construction and utility work.

Reminder: pedestrian changes throughout the corridor

Crews are continuing to complete sidewalk construction on Mercer Street and Fifth Avenue North. Please pay attention when walking through the corridor and follow pedestrian detour signage. New changes to pedestrian routes include:

  • The north and east crosswalks at the intersection of Fifth Avenue North and Mercer Street are now closed. Pedestrians should cross Mercer Street at Taylor Avenue North or on the west side of Fifth Avenue North. Access to QFC and local businesses will be maintained via Taylor Avenue North and Roy Street.
  • The sidewalk at the southeast corner of Fifth Avenue North and Mercer Street is now open.
  • The crosswalk on the west side of the intersection of Fifth Avenue North and Harrison Street remains open; the crosswalks on the remaining sides of this intersection are closed.

Thank you for your patience as construction continues. More information about alternate routes during Mercer Corridor construction may be found at: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/mercercorridor.htm.
