Weekend traffic Sept 12-14: Huskies, Mariners, Sounders and community festivals

If you are planning to be in northeast Seattle on Saturday, you would be wise to plan your trip around the Husky Football game on that day, with kickoff at 1 p.m. The customary Husky Football traffic plan will be in place, diverting general traffic away from the area before and after the game to allow time for 67,000 football fans to come and go from Husky Stadium and parking areas. Non-football traffic will be diverted between Northeast 75th Street and the Montlake Bridge.

If you are planning to attend the Husky game, you can minimize traffic delay by using one of the many alternate means of transportation available to get to the game such as bus, boat, or carpool. The Husky Gameday website has information regarding alternative transportation and parking.

If you will be driving through the SODO area this weekend, you will want keep in mind there will be heavier traffic as thousands of fans head for sports games at the stadiums — Mariners games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Safeco Field, and a Sounders FC match on Friday night at CenturyLink Field. Alternate transportation options through this area include the Sounder, Sound Transit express bus, Light Link Rail, and Metro Transit, among others.
