A 21-year-old man is in serious condition from multiple gunshot wounds following a shooting in a Beacon Hill neighborhood early Tuesday.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired shortly after 3 a.m. in the 2900 block of 12th Avenue South and found spent casings on the street and sidewalk, as well as at least one vehicle struck by gunfire. A home in the 1200 block of South Forest Street also was damaged by gunfire. No one at the home was injured and the family living there was unaware a shooting had occurred.
While investigating the scene, officers learned the victim had been taken to the Harborview Medical Center, HMC, with multiple gunshot wounds to his face and chest. He remains at the hospital.
Officers and Gang Unit Detectives responded to HMC and identified the victim and three witnesses. At this point it’s not known what precipitated the shooting, or precisely where it occurred . This is an open investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1. Anonymous tips are welcome.
