Council Hosts Affordable Housing Listening Session to hear challenges, successes acquiring workforce housing
Seattle – City Council will host a listening session to hear resident experiences finding affordable housing in Seattle. Neighbors will have the opportunity to address Councilmembers, followed by small group discussions to engage in more detailed housing-specific conversations.
The City is currently evaluating workforce housing needs and policies by engaging with national experts, consultants, stakeholders and the public. The Workforce Housing Listening Session will provide Councilmembers with true-to-life, anecdotal experiences to help inform City Council’s work going forward. A follow-up event on data-driven policy recommendations is scheduled for July 14, 2014. Initial consultant reports and presentations are available here.
Seattleites are encouraged to bring stories of their efforts to secure affordable housing. Each member of the public will have up to two minutes to speak, and public comment sign-up sheets will be available at 5:45 p.m.
Refreshments, childcare and interpretation will be available.
