The Seattle Department of Transportation will close the eastbound lanes of North 125th Street between Aurora Avenue North and Ashworth Avenue North from Friday, May 16, through Thursday, May 22, including the weekend, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The closure will enable crews to install curbs, ramps, and sidewalks in conjunction with SDOT’s Aurora RapidRide Pedestrian Improvement Project. Westbound traffic will NOT be impacted by this closure.
During this closure, eastbound traffic on North 125th Street will be detoured as follows:
- North on Aurora Avenue North
- East on North 130th Street
- South on Meridian Avenue North
- West on North 128th Street
- South on Densmore Avenue North
Also during this time period, the east curb lane on Aurora Avenue North just north and south of North 125th Street will also be closed.
The Aurora RapidRide Pedestrian Improvement Project is a collaborative effort with King County Metro to install a number of new sidewalks on Aurora and some of its side streets, along with Americans with Disabilities (ADA) mandated curb ramps at intersections along Aurora. The project included the installation of a new traffic signal at North 95th Street and Aurora Avenue North. The project also includes the installation of kiosks at various locations on Aurora to permit Metro to display bus travel schedule information. These pedestrian improvements are being installed to support Metro’s recently begun RapidRide Line E service. More information about the project can be found at http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/aurora_rapidride_sidewalks.htm.
