Mayor Murray proclaims May 2014 ‘Arts Education Month’

Applauding the dedication of arts educators and education advocates, Mayor Murray today proclaimed May 2014 to be Arts Education Month.

The focus of the proclamation is The Creative Advantage program, a multi-year effort between the City and Seattle Public Schools. The program is reinvesting in the future of Seattle’s students by addressing issues of inequity in education and by restoring arts education to all Seattle classrooms.

The goal of the project is to provide all Seattle students with a continuum of arts classes by 2020.
